Council approves discipline review recommendations
At its June meeting, the fifth College Council approved recommendations that will result in improvements to the College’s discipline practices.
Council received the 49 recommendations in an independent report from The Honourable Patrick J. LeSage C.M., O.ONT., more than 60 per cent of which require change to Ontario law. The College has already forwarded 26 of the 49 recommendations to Ontario’s Minister of Education for action.
Among the reforms, the College will:
- make information about discipline hearings available sooner
- report discipline outcomes faster
- share more information with school boards, police and other regulators
- fast-track hearings for members who have been criminally convicted
- name all those found guilty of professional misconduct
